Fish Tank Lighting Schedule

how can I make my baby turtles shell hard? its sooo soft.?
I have a baby painted turtle. Its about the size of a quarter. Its shell on the top and exspecially the bottom in the center is sooo soft. And I know that’s not good. What does it need? I feed him a cricket..about the length of the baby turtle about every 3 4 days. Does he need more?? And what other foods? It only eats meat type products, not the pellets or cuttle bone. Also what’s a schedule for lighting. Like how many hours a day. Also is duckweed a good source of calcium?
And what type of stuff does it need in its tank. I have a little fish tank about 3 gallons. I have rocks and water in there..anything else need to be in there? Please and thank you if you help answere
If baby turtles had hard shells, they would remain egg-shaped for their entire lives. The shell will gradually harden and flatten out. You can help it along by providing two things, calcium and a means to absorb it (vitamin D). Some people like earthworms and a basking light. I prefer feeding strips of liver dusted with bonemeal.
