Fishing in New Mexico?
I'm originally from Florida, who now lives in Roswell, and I want to start fishing, but it is really not good for fish around this way, Brantley Lake Carlsbad and the Pecos River runs through the city, but I'm not eating anything there. I want to find a place in the mountains surrounding this area (not in Ruidoso Bonita) to take day trips, or fish as possible / camping trips for the weekend, somewhere where there is no many people if my dog is not bothering anyone. I want something more local, but it is a great place he wouldnt mind going north to Santa Fe, or west of the Gila. Also in Cloudcroft area is nice, and I wouldnt mind finding the place. I would also like a place you can camp and fish in the same region (such as camping in a river or lake) Thanks for any help.

Sumner is very good for Alaska, the lower (LM, LM, Kentucky, white) and one year pike catfish. Trout are stored behind the landfill during the months cold and there is also the bass, Alaska and Channel Cat pretty good size. If planning to fish the spillway, call ahead to ensure that the region is open to fishing when they close the space to release water from the landfill. Ute and Conchas are also good (I prefer Ute) and not crowded except during the summer months and weekends. A fishing trip from Monday to Friday Ute is usually very quiet during the spring and fall. You need a boat to fish in these lakes shoreline access is limited by steep banks and high in most areas. Another good place for fishing and camping is Pecos, though I've only been during the summer.
